12 Dog-Friendly Spots in Austin for a Rainy Day

It’s that time a year, huh Austin? Crazy weather, terrible allergies and cooped up dogs. The time of the year when rainy days have us searching for the best dog-friendly spots in Austin.

Well, search no longer! I’ve compiled a list of the best dog-friendly spots to spend a rainy day with your pup!

Still Whiskey

Open every day except for Monday’s, Still Whiskey is a surefire option on those pesky rainy days. Their tasting room is cozy yet spacious and totally dog-friendly! Plus, they often host events benefitting local dog organizations, so they are always at the top of our list.

Nomadic Beerworks

No, we aren’t paid by Nomadic to constantly sponsor them — we do it because we truly believe them to be one of the best dog-friendly spots in Austin, period. Their wide-open taproom is always dog-friendly, and they have some of the best hours in Austin — open pretty much all day, err day.

Work & Woof

As currently the only indoor dog park in Austin, it’s no surprise that Work & Woof is one of the best spots to take those rambunctious pups on a rainy day. While they are only open for daycare and coworking on weekdays, they host a Yappy Hour every Wednesday and are open for all-guests on weekends. Keep in mind all dogs must be at least 6-months of age, up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered in order to be allowed inside.

Skull Mechanix

Another Austin brewery with a great, indoor taproom that allows dogs is Skull Mechanix. They are open daily, but oftentimes have live music at night so be sure to check before you go if your pup doesn’t handle loud noises well. They have a huge tap list so be ready to hang out and enjoy a few brews with your pup.

Nordstrom Domain NORTHSIDE

While all Nordstrom’s are dog-friendly (at least in Austin), the one at the Domain NORTHSIDE takes the cake in our book. Every single employee is friendly and loves dogs, so don’t expect to go in there with your pup and not get stopped for a quick petting session. However, please be courteous about taking well-behaved and clean pups in there — it’s still a higher-end store and there will be other shoppers around.

The Local Post Pub

One of the few restaurants in Austin with an enclosed, dog-friendly room is the Local Post. Aside from their patio, they have a bar area that can be completely closed-in during inclement weather, making it a perfect rainy day spot to have a meal with your pup. If you stop by on a Friday, you might even witness a doggy market with lots of local vendors!

Compadre Brewing Company

Yes, yes, we have a lot of breweries on our list. Part of it is because we’re huge beer people and breweries are one of our most frequented spots. However, breweries are some of the best dog-friendly places because health codes generally allow pups inside, and Compadre is no exception! While their taproom is a bit small, the beers are great and dogs are always welcome.

The Austin Winery

This one is for all you oenophiles (yes, I had to look that one up) — The Austin Winery has a totally dog-friendly tasting room complete with comfy couches, lots of space and pup-loving staff members. Don’t worry, they also have a few cider options plus some small bites on their menu.

Hopsquad Brewing Company

Austin’s newest brewery, Hopsquad is quickly becoming a local favorite. Complete with a huge, open and dog-friendly taproom, it’s nearly impossible to visit without seeing at least one wagging tail under the table. They are closed Monday-Tuesday, but otherwise open to provide you an escape from the rain and a cold beer.

Central Machine Works

Opened in late 2019, Central Machine Works is a microbrewery with an incredibly beautiful dog-friendly space. While they only have a handful of their own beers, they have a full menu complete with other local beers. The best part is their immense, indoor beer hall makes for the perfect place for those rainy ATX days.

Celis Brewery

While I couldn’t include every single brewery that allowed dogs inside, I had to include Celis. They are open daily and have a pretty large, dog-friendly taproom that often hosts pup events. Be sure to come out on a Wednesday to enjoy discounted food and drinks during their “Wags & Waffles” night.

LoLo

Austin’s first (and only) natural wine bar, LoLo is already doing things right in this mega dog-friendly city. While they have a gorgeous patio, pups are also allowed inside their friendly tasting room. The staff loves having furry customers and there is lots of space for everyone to get cozy. Plus, they are located right smack-dab in the middle of the East 6th district, where dogs are regular customers.

So, while Austin weather can be temperamental, these indoor dog-friendly spots in Austin will brighten up your next rainy day. However, please make sure you and your pup are good guests — places don’t need to let dogs inside, so don’t ruin it for everyone else!
